Poetry Reading –Generosity of Spirit
Cupertino Poet Laureate Hosts Area Poets June 24th
Cupertino, CA—The Cupertino Poet Laureate program is sponsoring a community benefit poetry reading June 24, 1:30-3PM in the Story Room at the Cupertino Library. The event is no charge and open to the public. Cupertino Poet Laureate Ann Muto and Fred Brown will moderate the event, and share poetry.
Generosity of Spirit is the theme and the name of the Poetry Record book presented to McClellan Ranch Preserve (MRP) as a result of the poets who took a series of poetry workshops at their Nature Preserve.
“Our inspiration for this event will be Pt. Lobos where Fred and I are docents,” said Muto, who will continue as Cupertino Poet Laureate through 2017. “Point Lobos State Natural Preserve has such artistry, different from McClellan, but equally as moving for us poets.” Brown is a semi-retired tax consultant and lives in Carmel. He has always enjoyed photography and poems of E.E. Cummings and Ogden Nash.
Other members of the McClellan Ranch Preserve gatherings reading their poems from Generosity of Spirit are: Gloria Bares, Edith Barr, Larry Hollist, Elaina Kyrouz, Gene Lee, Pushpa MacFarlane, Charleene Puder, Flo Oy Wong, and Jing Jing Yang. There will be time for Open Mic as well for attendees to read.
Reservations may be made by sending an email to poetlaureate@cupertino.org. Seating is limited. Join us!
The Cupertino Poet Laureate Program is sponsored by the City of Cupertino, the Cupertino Library Commission, the Cupertino Library Foundation, and The Friends of the Cupertino Library. Sanctioned by the City Council in 2011, there have been four Poets Laureate serving under the theme Celebrating Creativity.
